The Nemesis of the Flightline--Job Control
I worked with Lt Col Comer in Desert Storm. He probably wouldn't remember me, but might remember this incident.
I got chewed out big time when the choppers weren't configured right for a mission. Wasn't our fault, Job Control hadn't given us the right info.
I was balking at the configuration change to Job Control, but had ordered the crew chiefs to make the change. I was trying to make a point to the idiots who didn't let us know about the configuration changes, but knew we'd have to make the changes.
Comer came out, raising hell with me because JC had passed along that I was refusing to make the change. I said "No sir, we are already making the change." He looked at the chopper, saw it was being reconfigured. He said Job Control had told him we were refusing to make the configuration change. I told him I was just griping to Job Control because they didn't have the schedule right and it made us do last minute stuff that was extremely inconvenient for everyone.
Comer stomped off, still angry, but not at me any more:>)
Later, we were watching CNN and saw our choppers going into Kuwait City to retake the US Embassy there. That was the mission we were reconfiguring for.
As I remember it. (Dale Robinson)
