Cold Weather Operations

I remember at least one occasion when I was stationed at Fairbanks some where between 54 and 57 we were helping set up the Alaska Dew Line.

This one time we went out in the winter to haul some radar domes up to the top of a mountain and was working out of Galena. It was so cold we had to drain all the oil out of the tank and take it inside with us plus the battery to keep it warm enough so we could fly.

We stayed with a family with an Eskimo wife. Got to try some bear meat at one of the meals. (Bob Runninger)
